4/15/19: Set My Intentions

Every Sunday, I take the time in my evenings to game plan my week. I write in my notebook, “Focus for the week,” which is the objectives I want to accomplish for the particular week. Below the focus, I write short phrases of encouragement to keep me motivated. After recording it in the notebook, I rewrite it on my whiteboard. Strategically placed, the board is directly in front of my bed so that my areas of focus are the first and last things I see everyday.

The inspiration for this came from the Leadership Development Manager at my job. His level of intentionality has not only been inspirational, but extremely fruitful for him. Tracking my weeks has been a positive experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it pays off in a year’s time.

Recently, I’ve begun writing out my intentions, in order to keep them pure. If the focus of my week is the “what,” then writing out my intentions are the “why.” The why is important because it reveals the purpose behind what I do. This is how I hold myself accountable.

As I move into a new week my intentions are:

  • Stay motivated
  • Confidence
  • Preparation
  • Enthusiasm

This week will be one of new opportunities for me, so my intentions must align with my focus. If you see me or have my contact information, reach out to me sometime this week and ask me how things are going with my intentions and focus. I appreciate the accountability in advance!

As Monday begins what are your intentions for the week?

  1. Wow. Good stuff. I’ve always written out my plans or goals for the week, but I’ve had trouble following through with those plans. Taking the time to write and reflect on the “why” just might be what I need to do going forward. Thanks for sharing.
